Your path to becoming an ABA Therapist

  1. Classes & Coursework
Take online classes and complete weekly asynchronous coursework. Classes are recorded and can be done at your own time. Students can choose part-time (3 years) or full-time (18 months) coursework.
  2. Supervised Fieldwork
While completing your academic courses, you will have the opportunity to gain real-world experience by completing the required 2,000 hours of supervised independent fieldwork.
  3. BCBA Licensure Exam
Your final step is to sit for the Behavior Analyst Certification Board exam to become BCBA© (Board Certified Behavior Analyst). You are now eligible to apply to New York State to become an LBA (Licensed Behavior Analyst)!

Where Can Your Degree Take You?

Becoming an ABA therapist opens doors to job opportunities in school districts, clinics, hospitals, agencies, and private practice. You’ll have the chance to work with a diverse clientele, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), Down Syndrome, ADHD, addiction, behavioral disorders, and dementia, as well as typically developing people like students, consumers, and caregivers.

ABA is a growing field, and the demand for qualified therapists is increasing. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts a 20% job growth rate over the next four years. ABA salaries vary by location and experience but generally range from $75 to $95 per hour.
