Earn your certificate in Interior Design

Join TTI’s Interior Decorating and Design program and learn the skills necessary to begin working in the interior design industry. Focus on residential and light commercial projects. Learn software, including AutoCAD and SketchUp Pro. Discover design theory, building and construction materials, and business development.

By the end of this program, students will produce a portfolio with both design and technical aspects to show potential employers their level of skills and personal style. In addition, students have the option of taking up to 15 college credits which can be applied to an Associate or Bachelor’s degree.

Interior Designers work in a range of areas, including construction firms and design agencies as a residential or commercial space planner, an AutoCAD technician, a sales/showroom consultant or a kitchen and bath planner.

Starting salary: $18/hour. Interior Designers can earn an average of $40,000 for part-time work and $75,000 for full-time work, finding employment in offices and agencies as a private residential planner, an AutoCAD technician, an assistant within a design firm, sales/showroom consultant or a kitchen and bath planner. Many designers work freelance on behalf of personal clients.

Purchase a laptop. You need a good quality computer with internet.

Take classes for 2 semesters. Spend 222 hours of face to face classroom instruction with licensed, experienced instructors immersed in an intensive, professionally designed curriculum in two consecutive semesters.

Be prepared to work. Keep up with the homework schedule to hone your skills. The more you put in, the better designer you will be!

Develop your portfolio.

For those interested, TTI Careers will offer students internships to develop their skills, network, and potentially receive a job offer once classroom instruction is over.

At the end of the program, you will have the skills needed to enter the world of Interior Design.
