Health care management is the administration and management of health care systems, public health systems, hospitals, entire hospital networks or other medical facilities. Duties of these professionals include:

  • Ensuring that individual departments run smoothly
  • Overseeing the hiring of qualified employees
  • Ensuring that information is disseminated efficiently throughout the organization

There are general health care managers and those who are considered specialists. Generalists oversee entire facilities, while specialists focus on the administration of specific departments like marketing, finance, policy analysis or accounting.

The TTI Excelsior College BS in Health Care Management will prepare you to enter one of the nation’s fastest growing job sectors. Upon completion of this program, students will have learned to use theories of leadership and organizational behavior to define and implement management practices in health care settings; apply principles of budgeting and finance to effectively plan and manage resources within a health care organization; use knowledge of health and illness, health care systems and health care consumers to guide decision making and promote quality within health care environments; implement the manager role using a legal and ethical framework; incorporate multiple strategies of communication to establish collaborative relationships with members of the leadership team and other stakeholders; use evidence-based practice to guide human resources, clinical and administrative decisions; manage a diverse workforce in providing health care for an increasingly heterogeneous population; and demonstrate a commitment to life-long learning in pursuit of excellence in managing and leading within the health care environment.

Earn your Bachelor's Degree in Health Care Management in 8 steps:

Call admissions and sign up with TTI. Membership to TTI gives students access to academic advisement and all student services.

Get started by speaking with an Academic Advisor (either in person or on the phone, based on your location) to plan your 120-credit degree including 60 in arts and sciences, 42 professional core component, 15 additional (medical terminology, information literacy, and other college-level credits,) and 3 capstone credits. Get previous credit evaluated and transferred to Excelsior College (including Seminary and Yeshiva learning) and shorten the time needed to complete your degree.

Your advisor will help you become familiar with the many student services offered at TTI including our unique system of exams, TTI's lending library and testing locations.

Now start taking exams. Take as many as you want at your own speed. TTI has testing sites located in 16 locations worldwide. For students who do not live close to a testing site, TTI has private proctors located all over the world.

Follow your degree plan and continue to take exams or courses until you complete your degree.

Remember to speak with your advisor on a regular basis. We suggest at least once a month. Your advisor is available 6 days a week either by phone or e-mail.
