Become a Cancer Registrar

Quality cancer data is central to the nation’s fight against cancer, and cancer registrars are the first link in capturing that data. Cancer registrars are data information specialists that capture a complete history, diagnosis, treatment, and health status for every cancer patient in the U.S. The data provides essential information to researchers, health care providers, and public health officials to better monitor and advance cancer treatments, conduct research, and improve cancer prevention and screening programs.

Upon completion of this program, students will receive an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts and participate in a clinical practicum. Following the completion of both coursework and the clinical practicum, you will be prepared to sit for the Certified Tumor Registrar exam.

Passing the licensing exam will give you the ability to work in a number of different environments including hospitals, insurance companies, and state data collection centers. After a few years of experience, many cancer registrars have the ability to work remotely.

Plus 160 hours for clinical practicum
