NYS LBA and BCBA® Qualifying
NYS LBA and BCBA® Qualifying
A master’s degree in ABA meets the coursework requirements for NYS Licensure in Behavior Analysis (LBA) and for certification as a behavior analyst (BCBA ®). Students who are interested in becoming a BCBA ® but are not interested in licensure in NY should apply for the MS in Behavioral Science and Human Services.
A behavior analyst implements and evaluates environmental modifications, and arranges stimuli and consequences, to produce socially significant improvements in human behavior using direct observation, measurement, and functional analysis of the relationship between environment and behavior.
Our program will provide comprehensive training in Applied Behavior Analysis, an intervention approach commonly used with individuals with autism spectrum or related disorders. ABA is a broad field and states have different scope restrictions. Understanding that our ABA students might not remain in NYS, this coursework will present the broad scope of application of ABA. NYS LBAs are currently restricted to practice only with individuals with Autism or related disorders. Behavior analysts in other states and countries do not have this limitation.
