Bachelors in Liberal Arts

Excelsior College

A Liberal Arts degree provides the student with a wide range of knowledge that would prepare them for many aspects of the workforce. This degree is the most versatile, and therefore the most popular option for students of all ages and stages. Upon completion of the Bachelor’s degree, including prerequisites when necessary, one can enter a variety of graduate programs, such as Education, Special Education, Speech Language Pathology and Occupational Therapy, or continue to another graduate program.

Program Structure

Once enrolled, a knowledgeable academic advisor will conduct an initial meeting with the student to design a personalized degree plan leading to the completion of 120 credits for a bachelors degree. Should the student have previous credits, the advisor takes that into consideration as well. Students earn 60 credits in History, Humanities, Math, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and Written English, and another 60 credits in almost any topic a student would like to pursue. The majority of credits can be earned by taking proficiency exams in Limudei Kodesh and General Studies, such as Jewish Subject Exams (JSE’s), Coopersmith, and UExcel exams. Online courses are also available, depending on the student's interests and prerequisite needs for graduate study.

Prior Requirements

To obtain a Bachelor degree, students must hold a high school diploma or have taken the equivalent GED/TASC.

Field Work

There is no field work requirement for a Liberal Arts degree.
