Computer Programmers and Web Developers write code for websites and databases that power our multi-media web based world. It can be a rewarding and lucrative career.  Every business needs a website, and maintenance of that website. Various job options are web programming, web development, database management and software developers. This is a great career choice for a detail oriented, focused and efficient person, who enjoys solving puzzles and math problems.

Program Structure

Students will begin by mastering Java, the foundation of computer programming. Students will learn how to implement the language with other important languages of web development, such as PHP, MySQL, HTML and JavaScript. The second part of the course will be database management. Students will become proficient in managing and creating databases, as well as manipulating data using SQL. This will allow students to integrate their knowledge of PHP with MySQL. The final course will be devoted to a group project-based course, in which students will create and develop their own website.  Students will learn about domain purchasing, server selection, WordPress, and web security. Students will construct the website in WordPress, using PHP to create shortcodes, hooks and custom plugins. This will help consolidate their knowledge of various programming languages to the actual building of a dynamic site.

Prior Requirements

To do this program, a student must have a High School Transcript. Students will also need to take a prerequisite exam, Algebra, through Coopersmith. In addition, students will be required to have certain equipment and software: A computer with hard drive space for software requirements (Windows with at least a G4 processor and 1GB of RAM. In terms of software, the computer must have Microsoft Word or the equivalent, and Java Compiler. There will be several textbooks that will need to be purchased.

Field Work

TTI will make every effort to place students in appropriate jobs or internships but cannot guarantee a job placement or internship.  

Schedule

This program runs for 8 months and is set to begin in Brooklyn on October 16th, 2017. Classes for women are held on Monday through Thursday, from 3 to 6 PM, and for men, Monday through Thursday, from 9 AM to 12 PM. The program takes Yomim Tovim into account, but is open on legal holidays. The program will end on June 14th.

Location

The Brooklyn group meets in Boro Park, at 3815 13th Avenue. Classes are held in Jerusalem, Israel as well.

Cost

Tuition is $12,000, payable in two installments of $6,000 each, at the start of each semester. There is no financial aid available for this program. A $150 Registration Fee is required at the registration appointment. Books and software may cost up to $700. ***Note that tuition is lower for classes in Israel.
