Art Institute of Pittsburgh’s Residential Planning

The Residential Planning Diploma program is ideal for the creative student who wants to pursue an exciting career in interior design with its multifaceted opportunities. This is ultimately a career oriented path that teaches students the basic drawing, drafting and computer skills needed for interior space planning and design. Potential positions for students with a Residential Planning Diploma include: residential planning consultant, kitchen and bath planner, design assistant within a design firm, new home construction design, and showroom consulting/sales.


Working in conjunction with the prestigious Art Institute of Pittsburgh, TTI offers an online residential planning diploma program. Students will complete courses in color theory, textiles, space planning and kitchen and bath design. They can fulfill additional licensure requirements and ultimately be prepared to sit for the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) exam. This exam leads to the respected NCIDQ certificate, which is a well-recognized credential in the interior design job market. This certificate yields 24 credits, and all can be applied towards a bachelor’s degree.
